Position Summary

Louisiana Plastic Industries is seeking a skilled Maintenance / Engineering professional to support operations at our blown film extrusion facility in West Monroe, Louisiana. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving extrusion equipment and plant systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on blown film extrusion lines and auxiliary equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Support installation, setup, and modification of extrusion equipment and plant utilities
  • Diagnose equipment failures and minimize downtime
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and maintenance standards
  • Work closely with production, operators, and supervisors to support continuous operations
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, process improvements, and engineering projects as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical degree or equivalent experience in maintenance, engineering, or industrial systems preferred
  • Minimum 2–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with industrial machinery and production equipment

Required Skills

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems (motors, drives, sensors, controls)
  • Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to safety and detail

Certifications (Preferred but Not Required)

  • Industrial Maintenance Technician certification
  • Electrical or Mechanical Trade Certification
  • PLC training or experience (Allen-Bradley or similar preferred)
  • Forklift or lift equipment certification
  • OSHA safety training

Preferences

  • Experience in blown film extrusion, plastics, or converting operations
  • Knowledge of extrusion dies, air rings, winders, and material handling systems
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, overtime, or on-call shifts
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing plant environment
  • Standing, lifting, climbing, and working around moving machinery
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
